National Technical Honor Society

 

The NTHS is a non-profit, educational organization established to honor excellence in career and technical education.

The purpose of the NTHS includes:

  • To recognize and honor excellence in career and technical education,
  • To encourage students to reach for higher levels of achievement, develop self-esteem and pride,
  • To champion a stronger, more positive image for career technical education in America,
  • To promote critical work-place values – skill development, honesty, responsibility, service, scholarship, citizenship and leadership,
  • To help member schools build and maintain effective partnerships with local business and industry,
  • To provide greater career opportunities for the NTHS membership and
  • To promote educational excellence in America.

 

  • 2005 Charter Members: Weston Barefoot, Chaquandia Bell, Andrew Betz, Whitney Clarida, Meredith Forsythe, Jackson Jordan, Eric Lawrence, Gregory Turner, Latasha Turner, Elizabeth Wheeless, Brian Wiese, Antoinette Williams and Mason Wolf.
  • 2007 Members:--Latecia Burden and Joseph Sigman.

Membership Criteria

Membership is open to all 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The criterion is rigorous and focuses on several components including student academics, character and leadership.

Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all courses. (Academic)

Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 for all CTE courses. (Academic)

Student must have passed* a minimum of 4 different CTE courses. (Academic)

One of the four courses must be an advanced, level 2 "completer " course.

Student must have no discipline referrals or suspensions. (Character)

Student must be active in student government, a career-technical student organization or some other civic or community-based service organization. (Leadership)

Student must secure a nomination for membership from a member of the school faculty, staff or administration.

* Students who have passed at least 3 different CTE courses and are currently taking or enrolled to take a fourth course are eligible.
