Michael McGuire Selected as the New Broadcast Coordinator for NHCS TV

Michael McGuireMichael McGuire has been selected as the new head of New Hanover County Schools Television. A 14-year staff member of the station as the Assistant Video Coordinator, Mr. McGuire has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience and has a strong vision for leading the station into the future. He fills the vacancy left by the recent retirement of Aaron Oliver. Mr. McGuire holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from UNCW, one in Communication Studies and the other in Theater.

“Michael is experienced and uniquely qualified to lead the station and take it to the next level,” said Superintendent Tim Markley.

“NHCS-TV is an integral part of the Public Relations Division and I have tremendous confidence in Michael’s ability to assume the leadership of the station and to strengthen its presence in the community. He has a vision to get more students involved and to help them become aware that they have access to a fully-equipped television station as a learning lab. They can leave NHCS with a demo tape and give themselves an edge in college,” added Valita Quattlebaum, Chief Communications Officer.

During his tenure at NHCS-TV, Mr. McGuire has developed strong skills and has a proven track record of working with students who are interested in future careers in broadcasting and video production. He brings new ideas for programming and the ability to broaden the station’s reach through the expansion of social media and digital streaming.

Mr. McGuire has demonstrated his dedication to New Hanover County Schools through countless hours working in the field covering NHCS events to producing quality educational programming in the studio. He has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the leadership ability to increase awareness about the station and to get more students and community members involved.
