New Hanover County Schools Announces 2015-2016 Educators of the Year
Laura Graham - Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Gregory Law - Middle School Teacher of the Year,
Katie Snyder - High School and Overall Teacher of the Year, and Dr. Jerry Oates - Principal of the Year

The New Hanover County Board of Education and the Wells Fargo Foundation honored teachers and principals at the Educator of the Year banquet held at Ashley High School last night, June 9, 2015.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Educators of the Year. The following were named New Hanover County Schools' Teachers of the Year:

Elementary School – Laura Graham, Eaton Elementary School
Middle School – Gregory Law, Trask Middle School
High School – Katie Snyder, Hoggard High School

The 2015-2016 New Hanover County Schools Teacher of the Year is Katie Snyder. As the NHCS Teacher of the Year, Ms. Snyder received a 2015 Toyota Prius II to drive for one year, compliments of Hendrick Toyota of Wilmington.

Dr. Jerry Oates, Principal at Williston Middle School, was named the 2015-2016 Principal of the Year.

There were approximately 170 in attendance, which included Board of Education members, senior staff, school administrators, teachers, and representatives from Wells Fargo and Hendrick Toyota.

Each winner was cited for their outstanding contributions to education and presented with awards from the NHC Board of Education and Wells Fargo Foundation.

Ms. Snyder and Dr. Oates will go on to represent NHCS at the regional level and possibly advance to the state level.

During the banquet, the Board of Education recognized all of the schools’ 2015-2016 Teachers of the Year:
