Blair Elementary School to Participate in Pinwheels for Peace
WHAT:
Blair Elementary School students will celebrate
International Peace Day by participating in the Pinwheels for
Peace program so that students may express their feelings about
peace in the world and community. Each student will create a
pinwheel, one side showing words of peace in a variety of
languages, and the other side showing a visual representation of
what students feel about peace. The pinwheels will then be
paraded in a "Walk for Peace" around the school building.
Following the parade, students will congregate on the school’s
front lawn for a "waving of the pinwheels" and a display of
student efforts to attain peace at Blair and throughout the
district.
The teachers and staff at Blair aim to share in the efforts to
make students more globally aware and literate about worldwide
peace and how to become citizens who promote tolerance,
cooperation and harmony.
