Freeman Elementary Uses Grant Funding to Build Outdoor Learning Center

Rachel Freeman Elementary School has been approved for a grant to make an outdoor learning center in their garden. Work on Wilmington (WOW) and Cape Fear Soil and Water have partnered with Freeman and will be at the school on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 8:00a.m. -12:00p.m. They will be installing student benches and a teacher station under the existing awning. The teacher station will consist of a work space as well as a wipe-off board for instruction. They will also be mulching and planting vegetation native to North Carolina.

The school will be looking for 8-10 volunteers the day of the event to help with the plants and mulch. Volunteers from WOW will bring the materials and skilled labor to do the learning station.
If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Rachel Freeman Elementary School at 910-251-6011.
