Gregory Elementary Teacher Receives STEM Grant

Caroline Courter, teacher at Gregory Elementary School of Science, Mathematics, and Technology, is the recipient of a $1346 grant from Triangle Community Foundation, together with Biogen Idec Foundation, for the Ignite the Power of STEM Competitive Grant Program. The grant was one of 34 awarded in the statewide program. The program provides one-time grants to support science education programs and projects in public and charter elementary, middle and high schools represented at the 2014 Bridging the Gap STEM Education Conference, as well as non-profits represented at the conference who serve K-12 students.

“This grant, entitled ‘STEM Literacy for All!’ provides funding for hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) materials for our first grade students that align to the curriculum, both for science and literacy. The materials that will be purchased will be reusable year after year, so lots of students will benefit from this funding,” said Caroline Courter, grant recipient.
