for the African American History Month “Read-In

Isaac Bear Early College Welcomes Bertha Boykin ToddIsaac Bear Early College High School (IBECHS) will welcome local author and former New Hanover County Schools administrator Bertha Boykin Todd on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cameron Hall, Room 133, on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

This 26th annual African American “Read-In” celebrates African American authors and promotes literacy. Mrs. Todd will engage ninth grade students at IBECHS by presenting several of her published novels: “Meet the Help: True Stories of Domestics,” “My Restless Journey,” and “Moving Forward Together.” Ms. Todd’s most recent book, “Meet the Help,” published in 2011 with co-author Rhonda Bellamy, was inspired by the best-selling novel, “The Help,” by Kathryn Stockett.
