Isaac Bear Early College Welcomes Bertha Boykin Todd
for the African American History Month “Read-In
Bear Early College High School (IBECHS) will welcome local
author and former New Hanover County Schools administrator
Bertha Boykin Todd on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 10:30 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m. at Cameron Hall, Room 133, on the campus of the
University of North Carolina Wilmington.
This 26th annual African American “Read-In” celebrates African
American authors and promotes literacy. Mrs. Todd will engage
ninth grade students at IBECHS by presenting several of her
published novels: “Meet the Help: True Stories of Domestics,”
“My Restless Journey,” and “Moving Forward Together.” Ms. Todd’s
most recent book, “Meet the Help,” published in 2011 with
co-author Rhonda Bellamy, was inspired by the best-selling
novel, “The Help,” by Kathryn Stockett.
