Laney JROTC Cadets Honor Veterans

Laney JROTC Cadets Honor VeteransLaney High School’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (JROTC) cadets honored fallen veterans with 1,400 American flags on Saturday, November 8, 2014. The cadets, along with instructors Master Sergeant Bruce See and Colonel Thomas Harrison Smith, Jr., visited Bellevue, Pine Forest and Oakdale cemeteries, placing American flags next to marked veterans’ graves. After each flag was set to the left of a grave, the cadets would salute the passed veteran in honor of their service.

“Laney cadets have participated for several years in placing flags along veterans’ graves at Oakdale Cemetery for Veterans Day,” said Col. Smith. “This was the first year Laney cadets placed flags in Bellevue and Pine Forest. It is an honor to be a part of an event that pays tribute to those who have served our country.”
