NHCS Announces New Administrative Appointments

The New Hanover County Board of Education approved the appointment of seven new administrators for New Hanover County Schools at the July 12, 2016, Regular Board Meeting.

Rachel Greer, Principal of Johnson PreK CenterRachel Greer has been appointed as the Principal at Johnson Pre-K Center. Currently, Mrs. Greer is an assistant principal at Bradley Creek Elementary School. Previously, she served Lincoln Charter School as the principal of an elementary, middle, and high school. Also, she served as an elementary lead teacher, a principal intern, an ESL teacher, and a teacher for 5th grade in Hendersonville, NC. In addition, she served as an interim teacher in Escondido Union School District, California.

Mrs. Greer received an A.A. Liberal Arts & Sciences from Palomar College, B.A. Liberal Studies with a Minor in History, California State University San Marcos: College of Arts & Sciences, Teaching Credential from California State University San Marcos: College of Education, and a Master of School Administration from Western Carolina University.

Mrs. Greer’s administrative contract will begin July 18, 2016.


Charles Broadfoot, Principal of Roland-GriseCharles Broadfoot has been appointed as the Principal at Roland-Grise Middle School. Currently, Mr. Broadfoot is serving as an assistant principal at Williston Middle School. Previously, he served as a teacher and administrative substitute at George Middle School in Portland, OR, and a teacher in Anne Arundel County Public Schools, MD. Mr. Broadfoot was a member of the NHCS Assistant Principals Leadership Academy this past school year.

Mr. Broadfoot received a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Master’s degree at Lewis and Clark College in Oregon.

Mr. Broadfoot’s administrative contract will begin July 13, 2016.


Alisha Sheesley, Assistant Principal at WillistonAlisha Sheesley has been appointed as an Assistant Principal at Williston Middle School. Ms. Sheesley has served as the Special Education Teacher at Myrtle Grove Middle School since 1996. She completed her administrative internship at Myrtle Grove Middle School.

Ms. Sheesley received a Bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a Special Education license from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She received a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership with an add-on license in School Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Ms. Sheesley’s administrative contract will begin August 11, 2016.


Brad Lewis, Assistant Principal at WillistonBrad Lewis has been appointed as an Assistant Principal at Williston Middle School. Mr. Lewis currently serves as the assistant principal at North Brunswick High School in Leland, NC. Previously, he served as a teacher and coach at West Brunswick High School.

Mr. Lewis received a Bachelor’s degree in U.S. History with an Education certification and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.


Mr. Lewis’ administrative contract will begin July 18, 2016.


Graham Elmore, Assistant Principal of Forest HillsGraham Elmore has been appointed as the Assistant Principal at Forest Hills Global Elementary School. Mr. Elmore completed his Principal Internship at College Park Elementary School and Hoggard High School this past school year. Previously, he served as a teacher at Roland-Grise Middle School and a baseball coach at New Hanover High School. Mr. Elmore is a NC Principal Fellow and NC Teaching Fellow recipient.

Mr. Elmore received a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education and a Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Mr. Elmore’s administrative contract will begin July 18, 2016.


Scott Carter, Assistant Principal at Holly ShelterScott Carter has been appointed as an Assistant Principal at Holly Shelter Middle School. Mr. Carter completed his Principal Internship at Myrtle Grove Middle School and Eaton Elementary School this past school year. Previously, he served as a teacher, an athletic director, beginning teacher mentor, PDS site Coordinator, and Social Studies department chair at Myrtle Grove Middle School.

Mr. Carter received a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education and a Master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.


Mr. Carter’s administrative contract will begin August 11, 2016.


Kenneth Davis, Assistant Principal at Virgo Preparatory AcademyKenneth Davis has been appointed as an Assistant Principal at D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy. Mr. Davis completed his Principal Internship at Laney High School and Kennedy STEM Middle School in Charlotte, NC. Previously, he served as a teacher at Kennedy STEM Middle School and a support teacher in Wake County Public Schools and a special education teacher at Prince George’s County Public Schools in upper Marlboro, MD.

Mr. Davis received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from N.C. A&T State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Bowie State University and his Administration License from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Mr. Davis’ administrative contract will begin July 13, 2016.
