New Hanover
County Board of Education Announces The New Hanover County Board of Education approved two new principal appointments for the 2013-2014 school year. Jackson Norvell has been appointed principal at Ashley High School for the upcoming school year. Mr. Norvell is currently an assistant principal at New Hanover High School. Previously, he was an assistant principal at Pine Valley Elementary School, and Cape Fear Middle School in Pender County. During his employment with New Hanover County Schools, Mr. Norvell was an Intervention Specialist and Instrumental Music teacher at Roland-Grise Middle School and Noble Middle School. He also taught Instrumental Music at Topsail Middle School in Pender County. Mr. Norvell received a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Steven Sullivan, Ed.D., has been appointed principal at Hoggard High School. Dr. Sullivan is currently the principal of Heide Trask High School with the Pender County school system. Previously, he was an assistant principal at Hoggard High School and Roland-Grise Middle School. He was an English teacher at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Raton, Florida, and South Columbus High School with the Columbus County school system. Dr. Sullivan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education
from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a Master’s
degree in School Administration from Troy State University, and
an Ed.D. in Child and Youth Studies from Nova Southeastern
University.
