My Name is Griselda A. Garcia.  I was born in Matagalpa, Nicaragua.  In 1995 I met my Husband Alan Swart when he was in Nicaragua in the Peace Corps.  I married him in 1997 and moved to his home-town Wilmington, North Carolina. We have 2 daughters Julissa Fabiola (12 yrs. Old) and Maya Karina(4yrs.1/2 old).  In the past 5 years 1/2, we started Folks Café now with 2 Locations.  When I moved to U.S.A I had 15-20 hours of English As a Second Language classes at the Cape Fear Community College and a private tutor from Literacy Council Program, and helped me to be confident, able to learn this new culture, language and way of life.
Now that I am fluent in English I feel this blessing can help those who are not there yet.  I can be a bridge between the 2 cultures, languages and help them meet.  I love to talk to people.  I enjoy kids.  I am very happy I got this opportunity to use my language skills and be around kids and families who I can be of help.

Mi nombre es Griselda A. Garcia . Nací en Matagalpa, Nicaragua.  En 1995 conoci a mi Esposo Alan Swart, cuando el estaba en Nicaragua en el Cuerpo de Paz.  Dos años despues nos casamos y me trajo a vivir a su ciudad natal Wilmington, Carolina del Norte.
Tenemos 2 hijas, Julissa Fabiola (2 años) y Maya Karina (4 años ½).  En los ultimos 5 años ½ creamos Folks Café y ahora tenemos 2 locales.  Cuando nos mudamos para los Estados Unidos tenia 15 a 20 horas a la semana de clases de ESL (Ingles como Segunda Lengua por sus siglas en Ingles) en el Cape Fear Community College y una clase con una tutora del Programa de Literacy Council. Esto me ayudó a sentirme con mas confianza en mi misma, a poder aprender mas sobre esta nueva cultura, lenguaje y la forma de vida en este pais.
Ahora que soy bilingue  siento que puedo utilizar esta bendicion y ayudar a las personas que no saben el Idioma.  Siento que puedo ser ese Puente entre las dos culturas.
Me gusta conocer personas, los niños y estoy muy contenta de poder ayudar a las personas que lo necesitan.  Me alegra tener esta oportunidad.
