Board Chairman Ed Higgins extends Board recognition to Valita Quattlebaum, NHCS Public Relations Director, and Aaron Oliver, NHCS-TV Coordinator, for receiving two Blue Awards for Effective Communication from the North Carolina Schools Public Relations Association. The 2008 Annual Report and the NHCS-TV show, UpFront with the Superintendent, are the award-winning projects from NHCS.
   
Kathren Miller, school counselor at Myrtle Grove Middle, Colette Kennedy, assistant principal at Roland-Grise Middle, and Suzan Perry, teacher at Myrtle Grove Middle, display their Patriotic-Election Year themed quilt. The quilt features signatures from 2008 Presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain. Raffle tickets are being sold for the quilt. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life.
