ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
OPTIONS
An Assigned School is a school near your home to which
your child is guaranteed admission. If needed, transportation is provided.

A Year-Round School offers the North Carolina curriculum
offered on a nine-week on, three-week intercession schedule. You must apply to
these schools and they must be within your assigned territory. Transportation
is provided if student resides within transportation zone. Year Round schools

A
Magnet School is a school with a theme that draws students
from all over the county. The North Carolina Standard course of Study is taught
using this focus area as an approach. There are three elementary magnet
schools:
Rachel Freeman School of Engineering,
Gregory School of Science, Mathematics and Technology,
and
Annie Snipes Academy of Arts & Design.
If you already live in the Attendance Zone for a Magnet School, you do not need
to apply to that school. Otherwise, you must apply. Students are selected by
random lottery
