Our Positive Behavior Support Gold Bear
Celebration was held at Hugh McRae
Park on Monday March 22nd.  In order to attend, students must have earned 3 Golden Bears since the beginning of the year.  This means
they had 9 or more weeks of S+ behavior!
A total of 181 students attended the
celebration.  Students played on the playground, had a snack, played kick-ball, participated
in relay races, and also hunted Easter eggs!

Lego Smart - Create A Balance
This activity is aimed at developing an
understanding of how a simple balance
works. Ms. Abel's 4th graders
learned how a "seesaw"- like balance
is constructed and used to compare
the weights of remaining LEGO bricks.

Fourth graders completed
a bioengineering project after being
asked to have an imaginary pet frog as
their test subject. They needed
to find ways to ensure that the
frog got enough water by designing
a model membrane that slowly dripped
water into the frog's habitat.

how to identify bones from birds,
moles, rodents, and shrews.
Students used their STEM notebooks
to make predictions, record
observations, and reflect upon
their experience.

Third grade students had to design waterproof covers
for a cast to make it easier for people with broken
bones to take baths or enjoy a pool. To simulate
a cast, students tested paper mache wrapped around a
popsicle stick to represent the bone. They had to choose which materials would be the best for keeping
the water out. The cast covers were tested by holding them underwater for at least 10 seconds.
