Let your creativity run wild in Art Club! During club time, students will have the opportunity to meet the unique artist within to explore a variety of modes of visual and theatrical expression.  There are also field trip opportunities to get connected with the wider arts community in Wilmington. Excelsior!

Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders Club

Are you new to the concept of Leadership? Are you interested in learning how to systematically develop your leadership skills? This organization is dedicated to pushing you outside of your comfort zone to develop your leadership skills and prepare you for new life challenges. In addition to having a chance to explore your current leadership style and skills, you be challenged to develop new skills in a safe and supportive environment. This organization be an integral part of planning for Launching Leaders sessions, planning and organizing service learning opportunities and challenging each other to reach new heights in leadership.


Math Club

Do you enjoy math?!  Then join the Math Competition Club.  Students in the math club will prepare for the following events by practicing different types of problems in as quick but correct manner as possible.  These events include but are not limited to the American Mathematics Competition 10 and 12, Trigstar, The UNCW Math Comprehensive Competition, and the Jacksonville Southeastern Regional Math Contest.

Science Olympiad Tournament Goals

  • Bring science to life, show how science works, and emphasize problem solving aspects of science with the understanding of science concepts.
  • Develop teamwork and cooperative learning strategies among students.
  • Make science education more exciting so more students will enroll in science courses and engage in other science activities such as science reading, fairs, meetings and field trips.
  • Promote high levels of achievement and a commitment to excellence, to demonstrate that American students can perform at levels that surpasses expectations of even practicing scientists and engineers.
  • Attract more students, particularly females and minorities, to professional and technical careers in science, technology and science teaching.
  • Promote of spirit of competition through the application of scientific inquiry in a safe, academic environment.

Isaac Bear Early College High School (IBECHS) Student Government Association (SGA) is a representative structure for students, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff, and parents for the benefit of the school and its students. The IBECHS SGA serves to engage students in learning about democracy and leadership.


Yearbook Club

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives." If you are interested in documenting your timeless memories at Isaac Bear, join the Yearbook Team. Students will work together to design and publish the school's yearbook for the year. Use your creativity to work together with others on page layout and cover design. The responsibility to meet deadlines and the willingness to collaborate will be very important for this club.
