AFJROTC Mission
"Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community ”

The objectives of JROTC are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and
self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.

The AFJROTC program is grounded in the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. The curriculum
emphasizes the Air Force heritage and traditions, the development of flight, applied flight sciences, military aerospace policies, and space exploration.

The mission of NC 802 is to prepare better, more productive citizens through the application of the USAF core values, Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in all we do in the study of Leadership, Aviation History, Science of Flight and Science of Space.

SECTION ONE:  DESCRIPTION OF UNIT

E. A. Laney High School is a suburban high school with a 31.9% minority enrollment.  The general population is comprised of students who are easily distracted from the pursuit of academic excellence.   Students are not normally engaged as members of any school organizations other than athletics, band or chorus.  Activities outside of school include the ocean-front within 15 minutes drive.  School-wide concerns:  25% free/reduced lunch; variance in achievement gap.

SECTION TWO:  UNIT GOALS

1. Cadet - Recruit more cadets to Increase the number of cadets earning the Health and Wellness Ribbon by 25%
2. Cadet -
Increase the number of cadets earning the Special Teams Ribbon by 15%

3. School - Increase the number of cadets earning the Academic Ribbon by 12%.
4. School - Increase the number of cadets joining the Kitty Hawk Air Society by 17%.
5. Community - Increase the number of cadets achieving the Service Ribbon by 20%.
6. Community - Increase the number of cadets earning the Co-Curricular Activities Leadership ribbon by 10%.
