CAPTAIN DERRICK J. “D” FLOYD
Captain Derrick J. Floyd is the Military Personnel Flight Commander, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, NC. As Commander, he oversees a personnel flight, 17 commander’s support staffs, and 15 geographically separated units. He supports a multi-mission F-15E wing and a KC-135 reserve wing with over 14,000 military personnel and dependents, 600 civilian employees and 6,500 retirees.
Captain Floyd was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He entered the Air
Force in 1997 as a graduate of East Carolina University’s ROTC program.
He began his career as a personnelist, but has been selected to serve
outside the career field in several key billets critical to his commanders.
He has served at all levels to include a training wing, three fighter wings,
7th Air Force, and Air Combat Command. Prior to assuming his current
position, the captain served as Executive Officer to the Director of Staff
Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.
The captain has also served as a Section Commander, as protocol officer to 81st Training Wing and 7th Air Force Commander, and as an Executive Officer to the 1st Mission Support Group. His assignments include bases in Mississippi, Virginia, and North Carolina. He also served overseas in the Republic of Korea. His hands-on deployment experience include: Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM.
