Attention seniors:

Next week is CFNC College Application Week.  Your counselors will be in Computer Lab 126 during November 17-20 to assist you in applying for colleges online using the CFNC website.  Please stop by the counselors’ office to sign up for a time slot and get further instructions if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity.

 

Gramercy Prep, the private SAT prep program based out of New York City, is now providing private SAT tutoring in your home.  If interested see your school counselor or call (910) 465-9445.

 

Any senior who plans to graduate at mid term time needs to see their counselor as soon as possible.

 

Any student in a junior homeroom who plans to graduate in June needs to see their counselor as soon as possible.

Did you know that car crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers? Look for SAVE members in the parking lot tomorrow on National SAVE Day. They will be giving out tips on how to become a safe driver.  Pay attention...it could save your life.


Congratulations to the J. V. cheerleaders on their 1st place win in the Cape Fear Fair Expo Tuesday night. The team received a trophy and $150.

 

Congratulations to the dance team for their 1st place win in the Cape Fear Fair Expo Tuesday Night. The dancers received a trophy and $150. A special thanks and recognition to the step team for an excellent opening performance for the Expo also.

 

If you are a female who lost a ring last week in one of the girls’ bathrooms, please see Ms. Woodbury in room 239.

Congrats to Laney's Psychology classes...for raising enough money for the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes sponsored by Rape Crisis to win a second place trophy. Make a difference.

FIRST BLOCK CLASSES!! Next week will be the Thanksgiving Food Drive.   Students please bring in goods to donate to those in need this holiday season. It will only last for one week beginning Nov. 16- Nov. 20; there will be a prize for the winning class.

 

Please come out to support Sammy Arendse's senior project car wash. Sat. 11/21 at the Murrayville Road Fire Dept. from 9am to 4pm. Donations will be accepted and the proceeds will be given to the new fire dept.

A one time workshop for teens grades 7-12 will be offered Tuesday evening, December 8th from 6-8 pm at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice center. The group will focus on grief and coping with holidays and special anniversaries. Anyone is encouraged to call for more information. 514-1872. While the teen workshop is meeting there will also be a workshop for adults and one for younger children. Prior registration is mandatory for all workshops.

 

A representative from Peace College (Raleigh, NC) will be at Laney on Monday, November 23 to speak with interested senior girls at 10:OO a.m. See a counselor for a pass to attend.

 

FCCLA meeting Monday, November 30th in room 106 at 3:35. We will be making treats and wrapping books for the JC Roe trip.
