Scholarship Bulletin

  1. Students who are children of disabled, deceased, combat, or POW/MIA war veterans may be eligible for scholarship aid.  Contact the New Hanover County Veteran’s Service Office at 798-7611 for more information.

 

  1. The American Cancer Society awards scholarships to students who are survivors of childhood cancers.  Call 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org for information.

 

  1. Laney may nominate one student for the Gladys Baars Scholarship given by Campbell University.  If you are interested, you must see Mrs. Williams in the guidance office by Tuesday, Nov. 20th.  

 

  1. Students may register online at www.anycollege.com (click “Win a Scholarship” link) to enter a drawing for a $2000 scholarship.  Enter quarterly, as they will have three more drawings this year.

 

  1. Students interested in the Robert Byrd Scholarship are asked to see Mrs. Williams in guidance.  Criteria include grades, SAT scores and difficulty of curriculum.

 

  1. To access information about the Burger King Scholarship visit www.bk.com/scholars.  Applications are available now and must be postmarked by February 15th.

 

  1. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program offers full scholarships to African-American, American Indian, Asian American or Hispanic American students who have a 3.3 unweighted GPA and who demonstrate leadership abilities.  Students who qualify may access materials at www.gmsp.org.  Everything is due before December 31st.

 

8.   The National Commission for Cooperative Education offers merit scholarships to several partner colleges across the country including Johnson and Wales in Charlotte.  If you are interested in attending school there, visit www.co-op.edu for scholarship information.
