Scholarship Bulletin

October 2007

 

1.                  Students interested in the School of Textiles at North Carolina State University are asked to submit a resume of their school and community activities along with a statement on why they wish to major in textiles to Mrs. Williams in Student Services.  Due date is October 19.

 

2.                  The Robertson Scholarship is a collaborative award where students attend classes at both UNC and Duke University.  Information about this highly selective scholarship is available at www.robertsonscholars.org.

 

3.                  There is an annual scholarship essay contest based on Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead.  Students who are interested are invited to go to www.aynrand.org/contests.

 

4.                  Students who are interested in scholarship opportunities at Appalachian State       University are asked to go to www.scholarships.appstate.edu for information.  Deadlines are November 15.

 

5.                  The Christian Connector provides a free Christian college information service as well as a $2500 Christian college scholarship drawing.  Students can simply log on to www.christianconnecton.com to request information and to automatically be entered in the scholarship drawing.

 

6.                  The North Carolina Junior Sorosis club in Wilmington offers the Sallie Southall Cotton Scholarship to young men or women in the top 25% of their class, who plan to attend a four year college or university within North Carolina, and who demonstrate financial need.  Applications are available in the Student Services office and are due back to Mrs. Williams by January 10.

 

7.         Seniors are invited to apply for the Coca-Cola Scholarship online.  The      website address is       http://www.coca-colascholars.org, and the deadline for entry is October 31.  There will be 50 scholarships awarded for $20,000 each and 200 scholarships awarded for $10,000 each.  Students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.

 

8.         The deadline for the Farm-City Week essay scholarship contest has been extended to October 19.  Information on the essay topic “Agriculture’s Role in Sustainable Energy” is available in Student Services.  There will be $3000 awarded in scholarships and not many students will apply.  Consider this one!!
