THE MARIE HARRIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The English Department would like to honor one deserving student with a $500 scholarship in memory of our friend and colleague, Mrs. Marie Harris. The scholarship will be sent directly to the college of the recipient’s choice in two equal installments—one for the fall semester expenses and one for the spring semester expenses. This scholarship is open to any member of the Class who will be attending college in the fall.
Applications and letters of recommendation should be submitted to the senior guidance counselor no later than the deadline established each spring.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
_____ Possess a 3.0 or higher GPA
_____ Show a commitment to Laney through an active participation in the programs at Laney.
_____ Have a strong desire to attend college and complete a college education.
ALL applicants MUST do the following:
_____ Complete the application and submit it to the senior guidance counselor no later than the due date.
_____ Attach to the application a resume of activities within the school and community.
_____ Obtain TWO teacher letters of recommendation and ONE other letter of recommendation from someone NOT associated with Laney High School.
NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE!!!!
