Laney High School Wins Special Concert For Students

Students at Laney High School will soon be treated to a special visitor when platinum-selling recording artist, Gavin DeGraw, shows up at their school to perform a live concert presented by Office Depot (NYSE: ODP). The free concert is part of the winning prize package from Office Depot's "Great Tunes To Start School" sweepstakes that took place nationwide during this year's back to school season.

Laney High School was randomly selected from more than 450,000 entries from schools nationwide for Office Depot's back to school promotion. The special Gavin DeGraw concert scheduled for Thursday, November 8, from 4 - 6 p.m., at Laney High School, 2700 N. College Road, also marks a homecoming of sorts for the recording artist who is best known for his #1 hit single, "I Don't Want To Be." The song has appeared as the theme for the popular TV show "One Tree Hill," which sometimes films on location at the school and in the Wilmington area.

The concert is free for Laney students and faculty only; you must show your school ID to see the concert.

For more information contact Al O'Briant, Principal at Laney, at 350-2089.
