Got a problem? Peer mediation provides students and staff an alternative method for resolving conflict. Student mediators help their peers resolve their disputes by encouraging constructive communication, helping participants take responsibility for their actions, and clarifying their needs and feelings. Once reached, an agreement is put into writing and signed by the participants, providing a permanent record of their settlement. Situations appropriate for mediation include: arguments, rumors, relationship difficulties, harassment, name-calling, property loss or damage, and/or threats. To request a mediation, please fill out a Peer Mediation Intake Form. Forms may also be found in the Guidance Office, the Dean's Office, and from Miss Keller, Room 111C. Once a form is completed, place the form in an envelope (for confidentiality purposes), and place in Miss Keller's box. Once an Intake Form is received, both participant's will be interviewed to determine if the situation is appropriate for mediation. If so, a mediation will be scheduled as soon as possible.
