New Hanover County Sheriff's
Department Apprehend
Ashley High School Vandalism Suspects
New Hanover County Sheriff's
Department has made three arrests in conjunction with last
week's acts of vandalism at Ashley High School and Minnie Evans
Arts Center. Two of the three suspects are students of Ashley
and were arrested today on campus while attending their second
day of school. The students are suspected in taking part of
breaking 89 windows at Ashley and Minnie Evans on the evening of
Sunday, August 17, 2008.
At this time, New Hanover County Schools is unable to release
any additional information about the student suspects.
James McAdams, principal of Ashley, comments, "I am sorry that
two Ashley students took part in this crime, but I am glad that
the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department has made the arrests
and are pursuing the charges against those who participated in
these acts of vandalism against Ashley High School and Minnie
Evans Arts Center."
The New Hanover County Sheriff's Department is continuing to
investigate the incident and a possible fourth arrest could be
made in the coming weeks.
