Gang Trainings Scheduled at
Four New Hanover County High Schools
New Hanover County Schools has
scheduled quarterly gang trainings for
the upcoming 2008-2009 school year. All trainings are scheduled
from
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The dates and locations are as follows:
September 9, 2008 - Laney High School
December 4, 2008 - New Hanover High School
March 12, 2009 - Hoggard High School
June 4, 2009 - Ashley High School
Detective J.P. Guarino and Michelle Guarino, Gang Therapist,
from the
New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, will conduct these four
major
trainings. Detective Guarino will present Gang 101, which
addresses
gang awareness and ways to combat the problem and Ms. Guarino
will
address the psychology behind gangs: prevention, intervention
and
diversion.
All trainings are open to school personnel, parents and the
public, and no registration is required.
