News and Announcements

Update:  Due to inclement weather, please be advised that the Myrtle Grove Middle School Watch D.O.G.S. kick-off party has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2008, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Myrtle Grove Middle School.

Myrtle Grove Middle School Dads Display A Powerful and Positive Presence at School Through the Watch D.O.G.S. Program

Myrtle Grove Middle School will kick-off the powerful father-student program, Watch D.O.G.S., with a Kids and Dads Pizza Night on Thursday, September 25th, beginning at 6 p.m. During this fun kick-off party, dads and kids will meet in the Myrtle Grove Middle School cafeteria to enjoy free pizza and drinks. Dads will have the chance to win door prizes and sign up for a day as a Watchdog.

Watch D.O.G.S., Dads of Great Students, are fathers or father figures who volunteer for a minimum of one full day at their child's school. The Watchdogs help supervise students at arrival and class change, help tutor students in the classrooms, and play games with the students at lunch and recess. The program will continue throughout the school year.

Last year, 86 fathers signed up as Watchdogs at Myrtle Grove, and they all indicated that they loved spending a day at school with their children. Their positive influence at the school continues to help provide a safe and nurturing environment for all Myrtle Grove Gators.
