Murray Middle School Facilitates Visit
for Students and Teachers from France

Murray Middle School’s Global Education Committee, in partnership with Ashley High School and the Cape Fear Rotary Club, has made arrangements for students and teachers from the Collégé Épiscopal Saint-Étienne of Strasbourg, France, to visit Murray Middle School. This short-term student exchange program will take place from October 4 - 18, 2008. The goals of this visit are as follows:

• Expose our students to a diverse group of people their age.
• Raise cultural awareness for our students and for the students from France.
• Enable students to experience new perspectives first hand.
• Form ties that may one day provide a competitive edge in the marketplace.
• Expose young adolescents to a global community and teach them to interact respectfully with various people groups.
• Develop a new appreciation in our students for the Wilmington area by experiencing it through the eyes of a visiting student.

The Saint-Étienne students will visit various sites around Wilmington and participate in coastal North Carolina activities during their two week stay accompanied by Murray Middle School and Ashley High School students.

A reception will be held in honor of these students and teachers at the Minnie Evans Arts Center, 605 Halyburton Memorial Parkway, Wilmington, NC, on October 6, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

For more information, contact Cyndy Bliss at 910-790-2363.
