Bradley Creek Gardeners Rewarded for Efforts

Delores Hawes, a Bradley Creek kindergarten teacher, and her students formed Earth Friends of the Cape Fear Garden Club and have been rewarded for year-long efforts. Earth Friends won the Garden Club of North Carolina first place award for their Bird Project. The project involved cooperative efforts with Cape Fear Garden Club members to make, paint, and maintain two bluebird houses and to attract birds to the hummingbird garden. Allie Earnhart, a kindergarten student, won a first place award for her bluebird drawing. Other projects with the Cape Fear Garden Club this year have included pine cone bird feeders for Hospice Festival of Trees, holiday plant gifts for family members, and extensive planting in the hummingbird garden.
