Human Relations Day Winners are Announced

Human Relations Day was celebrated on February 21, 2008, and forty of New Hanover County Schools, as well as the New Hanover County Council of PTA's, participated. Exhibits were created using this year's theme, "In Our Diversity, We Are The Same" and were judged according to how well the theme was expressed.

All presentations were extraordinary, and the official winners are as follows:

Pre-K
1st Place: NHCS Pre-K Center
2nd Place: Howe Pre-K Center
3rd Place: J.C. Roe Pre-K Center

Elementary Schools
1st Place: Murrayville Elementary
2nd Place: Bellamy Elementary
3rd Place: Forest Hills Elementary

Middle Schools
1st Place: Noble Middle School
2nd Place: Myrtle Grove Middle School
3rd Place: Roland Grise Middle School

High Schools
1st Place: Laney High School
2nd Place: New Hanover High School
3rd Place: Isaac Bear Early College High School

Three other categories recognized by the New Hanover Human Relations Commission in celebration of Human Relations Month were:

Student of the Year: Keaira Roland, Laney High School

Educator of the Year: Mark Tracy, Alderman Elementary School

Community Organization of the Year: New Hanover County Council of PTAs
