Preview InsideOut Documentary
WHAT: Elected officials,
community leaders and educators will convene to watch InsideOut,
a documentary that encourages youth to stay in school. InsideOut
has been hailed by members of the U.S. Department of Education
as one of the best educator's tool to reduce the nation’s
dropout rate. This viewing is the first step toward rolling out
the tool to schools statewide.
The Mattie C. Stewart Foundation (MCS Foundation) was
established in honor of Dr. Shelley Stewart's late mother,
Mattie C. Stewart. Dr. Stewart survived witnessing his own
mother's murder and suffered abandonment and severe abuse as a
child. His mother and father were both illiterate. The goal of
the MCS Foundation is to enable corporate and individual
philanthropic giving to fund initiatives that are designed to
keep young people in school until they graduate. The MCS
Foundation is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. To learn
more about the MCS Foundation and offer your support, visit
