Myrtle Grove Middle School
Student Receives National Recognition
Rebecca Swiney, Myrtle Grove
Middle School student, has been recognized on the national level
of The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2008, coordinated by
The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. This year,
approximately 1,000 young artists and writers earned national
recognition placing them among the top one percent of all
participants. The Alliance commends all of the young artists and
writers who had the courage to submit their work for review by
visual and literary arts professionals.
Rebecca, her family and teacher are invited to participate in
the national celebration events in New York City from June 4
through 6, 2008. National Award recipients are celebrated at the
Gala Ceremony held at Carnegie Hall in New York City. A
highlights exhibition of select nationally recognized art and
writing work will be on display in New York coinciding with the
National Celebration events. National Award recipients also
receive insight and advice from a variety of professionals in
the creative industries through a series of workshops.
