Myrtle Grove Middle School Students
Present Problem Solving Projects

Seventh grade students at Myrtle Grove Middle School will display their Problem Solving Projects on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the school's Media Center.

Students began developing their Problem Solving Projects in September. Each student selected a local, state, national, or world problem that they wanted to research and work to improve. Students researched the problem throughout the fall and have since spent the rest of the school year becoming a part of the solution. The students have been busy raising money, collecting supplies and materials, volunteering, speaking to groups to raise awareness, participating in events on behalf of their problem, etc.

The goals of the Problem Solving Projects were for the students to look beyond themselves and identify problems that surround them, and have the opportunity to explore ways they can make a difference in the world.

The students' display will include their research and community service. They will be on-hand to answer questions and expand on their Problem Solving Project. Judges will be present to review all projects. Winners will receive monetary awards donated to the students' causes.

The participating students are a part of Mrs. Tayloe's seventh grade language arts classes.

For more information about the seventh grade Problem Solving Projects, contact Kate Tayloe, teacher, at 910-350-2100, ext. 433.
