Murrayville Elementary School's
Physical Education Teacher
Receives National Award
Zachariah Bennett, physical
education teacher at Murrayville Elementary School, recently
received a Presidential Citation Award from the National
Conference of American Alliance for Health, Physical Education,
Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). This award is given out to
individuals, or groups, that have been responsible for major
contributions to AAHPERD. Mr. Bennett raised over $9,000 for
Jump Rope for Heart, which is a national educational
fund-raising program that is sponsored by the American Heart
Association and AAHPERD.
The AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals
supporting and assisting those involved in physical education,
leisure, fitness, dance, health promotion, and education and all
specialties related to achieving a healthy lifestyle. AAHPERD is
a coalition of five national associations and six district
associations and is designed to provide members with a
comprehensive and coordinated array of resources, support, and
programs to help practitioners improve their skills and so
further the health and well-being of the American public.
