NHCS Students Win at State
Reflections Art Competition
Twelve students from New Hanover
County Schools were among the state-level winners in the North
Carolina Parents Teachers Association's 2007-2008 Reflections
Art Contest. This year's contest theme was "I Can Make a
Difference by..." and students expressed their artistic
interpretations of that theme in the areas of dance, visual
arts, literature, film/videography, photography, dance
choreography and musical composition. Students participate in
the Reflections Program through the local PTAs at their schools.
The winners will be recognized at a reception at ArtQuest at the
Green Hill Center for NC Art in Greensboro on April 19, 2008 and
then again at the NCPTA State Convention in Raleigh on May 9,
2008. Locally, district winners and state winners will be
recognized at the New Hanover County Board of Education meeting
on May 5, 2008 and at the New Hanover County Parents Council
Banquet on May 6, 2008. Additionally, artwork from the three
students who received first place status will advance to the
national level of judging.
