New Hanover County Schools Name 2008 Teaching Fellows Recipients

Through the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, seven New Hanover County high school seniors have been awarded the 2008 Teaching Fellows scholarship. The Teaching Fellows Program provides a $6,500 per year scholarship for four years to 500 outstanding North Carolina high school seniors. Upon acceptance of the scholarship, the student agrees to teach for four years following graduation from college in one of North Carolina's public schools or United States Government schools in North Carolina. New Hanover County Schools' recipients are:

The program's mission is to recruit talented high school graduates into the teaching profession and to help them develop leadership qualities. This program challenges students to see beyond the classroom and to think about the connections of education to the quality of life and the economic survival of our state.
