New Hanover County
Board of Education Announce Scholarship Winners
The New Hanover County Board of
Education has selected two recipients for the 2009 New Hanover
County Board of Education Scholarships: Diana Bracht, Ashley
High School, and Megan Everette, Hoggard High School. Both
recipients will receive $1,000 per year toward their education
at the accredited college or university of their choice.
To attract high-quality individuals into
the teaching profession, each year, NHCS' Board of Education
awards two scholarships. This scholarship provides incentive,
recognition and financial assistance to outstanding individuals
for their professional development in the field of education.
To determine scholarship winners, a
screening committee examines a number of criteria including high
school grades, class standing and SAT scores. Other
considerations include the intended major of the applicant,
community and school service, extracurricular activities and
references from teachers and members of the community.
For more information, contact Lisa
Burriss, Lead Social Worker/Counselor, at 910-254-4346.
