New Hanover County
Board of Education Approves Meal Price Increase
At last night's New Hanover County Board
of Education meeting, the Board members approved a price
increase for breakfast and lunch meals. Beginning July 1, 2009,
students in all grades will pay $1.25 for breakfast, and
students in grades K-5 will pay $2.00 for lunch. The price
increases reflect an additional five cents for breakfast, for
all grades, and twenty cents for elementary lunch.
The cost increase is due to an increase
in workers' compensation, health benefit rates, food cost
increases and other operational expenses.
For more information, contact Imer
Smith, Director of Child Nutrition Department, at 910-254-4212.
