New Hanover County High School Students Recognized at Cape Fear Community College Recognition Ceremony

Three New Hanover County high school students recently received awards at the Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) Student Recognition Ceremony:

Erin McDaniel - Outstanding Huskins Student
Ashley High School

Kevin Thompson - Outstanding Concurrent Enrollment Student
Laney High School

Darnell Powell - Outstanding Wilmington Early College Student
Wilmington Early College High School

Huskins coordinators at each high school in New Hanover and Pender County, early college high school counselors or principals and CFCC instructors were encouraged to nominate an outstanding student at their school. While academic performance was important, the college was looking for students who stand out as leaders in their college classes and/or their high schools.

Huskins classes, concurrent enrollment and early colleges are all programs that give high school students an opportunity to enroll in college classes and earn credit in both. All mentioned programs are categorized under the Gateway Program.

For more information, visit CFCC Gateway Program online at http://www.cfcc.edu/gateway or contact Robin Hardin, Gateway and Cooperative Programs Coordinator, CFCC, at 910-362-7115.
