NHCS Responds to Confirmation of H1N1 Influenza Virus
in One Student at Sunset Park Elementary School

New Hanover County Schools was informed at 5 p.m. today by the New Hanover County Health Department that the suspected case of the H1N1 Influenza Virus has been confirmed in one student at Sunset Park Elementary School. All Sunset Park Elementary parents have been informed about this situation through the ALERT NOW message system. Formerly, the district had informed parents of this suspected case before receiving this official confirmation today.

NHCS custodians are currently cleaning and disinfecting the school, the playground area and the buses. School will be open as usual tomorrow. If parents have health questions or concerns, please call the State of NC Care Line at 1-800-622-7030.

Sunset Park Elementary had 94 students absent today, and 25 absent on June 2, 2009.
