Myrtle Grove Middle
School's Softball Field
a Semi-Finalist for Kellogg's Makeover
Bailey Williams, 7th grade student at
Myrtle Grove Middle School, has nominated the Myrtle Grove
softball field for a field makeover, through the Kellogg's
Frosted Flakes Earn Your Stripes field renovation program.
This initiative is renovating athletic
fields across the country as part of Kellogg Company's continued
commitment to encouraging healthier lifestyles and building
stronger communities.
Overall, thousands of fields were
nominated for renovation. Those fields were narrowed down to 100
finalists based on judging criteria such as condition of the
field and impact on the community. Myrtle Grove Middle School is
one of the finalists, and your vote will help determine the 30
winning fields.
The nomination entries were narrowed
from thousands of total nominations to 100 field finalists based
on:
- The feasibility of the field.
- The location and age of the field.
- How often the field is used.
- How many events take place on the
field each month or year.
- What teams use the field.
- The number of other athletic fields
in the community.
- The demand for the field.
- Condition of the field.
- The impact a field renovation would
have on the community.
Fans of Myrtle Grove Middle School, and
all the schools in New Hanover County, can vote daily until
Sunday, May 31, 2009, to help the school be selected as one to
be rebuilt. The public voting will count for ½ of the final
score, and the sponsor's judging panel results will count for ½
of the final score. The approximate retail value for each field
makeover is not to exceed $15,000.
