NHHS Seniors Advances to National HOSA Competition

Alexandria Whitted, a senior at New Hanover High School (NHHS), has won the honor to represent NHCS and the State of North Carolina at the upcoming National Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Competition. She is the only NHCS high school student to advance to the National event. The competition will be held in Nashville, TN, June 24-27, 2009. Alexandria will be competing against students from throughout the United States.

At the State HOSA competition, held recently in Greensboro, NC, April 1-4, 2009, Alexandria competed against 80 other North Carolina high school students in the knowledge test about Human Growth and Development. She received third place in the category at the State level. While at the National competition, Alexandria will be testing her skills as she competes against the top three winners from each state in the Human Growth and Development category.

Alexandria will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall and has career plans of becoming a physician. She is taught Allied Health by NHHS teacher and HOSA advisor, Page Tootoo.
