NHHS Seniors Advances
to National HOSA Competition
Alexandria Whitted, a senior at New
Hanover High School (NHHS), has won the honor to represent NHCS
and the State of North Carolina at the upcoming National Health
Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Competition. She is the
only NHCS high school student to advance to the National event.
The competition will be held in Nashville, TN, June 24-27, 2009.
Alexandria will be competing against students from throughout
the United States.
At the State HOSA competition, held
recently in Greensboro, NC, April 1-4, 2009, Alexandria competed
against 80 other North Carolina high school students in the
knowledge test about Human Growth and Development. She received
third place in the category at the State level. While at the
National competition, Alexandria will be testing her skills as
she competes against the top three winners from each state in
the Human Growth and Development category.
Alexandria will attend the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall and has career plans
of becoming a physician. She is taught Allied Health by NHHS
teacher and HOSA advisor, Page Tootoo.
