2005-2006 "I wonder why..."

Believing that students deserve quality arts education and should have the opportunity to create art for fun and recognition, the National PTA created the Reflections Contest. This nationally sponsored contest is for students in grades k-12. In its 30 year history, this program has encouraged millions of children across the US to create works of art. ............ The 2005-2006 theme was "I wonder why... " Students were invited to submit entries in Photography, Literature, Visual Arts, or Musical Composition.  Past themes have included “'Dare to Discover',” and “'If I Could Give the World A Gift',” “'Imagine That',” and “'Exploring New Beginnings'. 2006 Parsley Winners Literature Musical Composition K-2 1st place - Bradley Barefoot 2nd palce - Jonas Bryson 3rd place - Zara Strayer 3-5 1st place - (tie) Mackenzie Kuhne                         Savannah Samuel 3-5 1st place - Claudia Steenberg 2nd place - Kyle Wallace 3rd place - Rasheed Robinson Honorable Mention - Meghan Hodgin Photography Visual arts K-2 1st place - Zara Strayer 2nd place - Lindsey Williams 3rd place - Alicia Harris   K-2 1st place - Bradley Barefoot 2nd place - Kaitlyn cox 3rd place - Lindsey Williams 3-5 1st place - Patrick Magruder 2nd place - Emily Milkes 3rd place - Alicia MacDonald Honorable Mentiions - Isabella Farley and Brittany MacLeod 3-5 1st place - Maya Quattlebaum 2nd place - Tessa Minnich 3rd place - Brittany Forester   Identifies New Hanover County Level Winners that will advance to the district level competition.
