Below are directions on how
to use Parsley's online card catalog. |
QUICK SEARCH: Begin your
search for a book by typing in the Title, Author, Subject, or
Keyword. Be
sure to select the appropriate radio button for your type of search.
Press
Enter or click the Search button.
Read below to see what happens when you click
the Browse button. |

Important notes about searching:
1.
Spelling counts! Misspelled
words do not work in this program.
2. Punctuation matters. Remember
to type in apostrophes, colons or any other punctuation marks
in the title, author's name, etc.

QUICK SEARCH RESULTS will look similar
to this. Books that are available for checkout will
show In on the right side of the window. Books
currently checked out are shown as Out.
Many books listed in your search may show a picture of the book
cover. Listed un the book's title is its call
number. Be
sure to write this down so you can later find the book. |

By clicking the Add (or
Add To List) button, you can create a
personal list of books you'd like to read. See 'MY
LIST'. |
To the left of the book title is a symbol
which helps you identify what type of book is included in your
search. Symbols for
items you are allowed to check-out are listed. |

BOOK INFORMATION: By
clicking on the title of the book, a new window appears giving
you more detailed information about the book including a summary.

QUICK BROWSE: When performing a Quick Search, you can choose
to click the Browse button. This is an example of a search
results from 'browsing'. |
By using the ADVANCED SEARCH feature
and typing in specific search criteria, you may get a better search
result. Be sure to select from the drop down menu whether
you are searching by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, etc. You
can also specify that the copy type only be a book. Click
either the Search or Browse for results as explained above. |

Note: You cannot search
by reading level from Advanced Search.

ADVANCED SEARCH RESULTS look similar to Quick
Search results, but are more customized based on your search request. |

Some students may prefer to use VISUAL
SEARCH. This search
method returns a list that is much broader in topic. |

By clicking the READING PROGRAM SEARCH button,
you can search by AR reading level. Type
in a reading level or a range of levels (level..level).
Ex.
one level: 3.4
range of levels: 3.4..4.6 |
READING LEVEL SEARCH RESULTS will
list all the books in your requested reading level(s).
To find
out the reading level of an individual book, click on the book
title and look for the reading level on the individual book information
page. |

MY LIST is where you'll
find the list of books you've created each time you clicked the
Add or Add To List button.
You can choose how to sort your list and whether to Save or
Print your list. If you print your list at home, you can bring
it to school to help you find books you'd like to read. |
Logging in to 'MY INFO'
allows you to see what books you have checked out and their
due dates. You
have the option of renewing your library books.
Type in your
Patron ID (the six digit number you use to check out your books)
and your Surname (last name). Your account information will
be displayed. |
