    • Teacher CyberGuide - Students will use a wide variety of online resources to explore the physics of flight, learn how to use a compass, visit Canadian wildlife and prepare a short report, and create a survival guide.

    • Survival - A series of lessons on Hatchet - A fifteen day unit contains student worksheets, journal topics, essay questions, assessments, and chapter-by-chapter activities for reading "Hatchet".
    • Student Activities and Worksheets - Several diverse projects are used to explore Paulsen's novel here. Students will become familiar with the author and create a bioboard, complete worksheets on related story topics, or discover what a Newberry Award entails.
    • Survival Kit - Students will work in groups to brainstorm ideas about what they would need to survive in the Canadian wilderness. They will collaborate to devise their own survival kit, narrowing the list to twelve essential items.
