National Geographic Bee:
Many fourth and fifth grade students at Parsley participate in the National Geographic Bee at Parsley which is usually held in January. Students do not practice for the NGB in class, but here are topics students can study on their own to prepare for the bee. By use of web resources listed here in this Geography section and by using atlases, encyclopedias, books, maps, and globes, students can study the following:
-
US Geography: location of states, states/capitals/cities, mountains and other land forms, islands, rivers, bordering oceans, climate, etc.
-
World Geography: continents (names, sizes, bordering oceans, important events, people, heritage, and important places), hemispheres, rivers, oceans, etc.
