Introduction
This policy manual includes policies that represent the
official position of the New Hanover County Board of
Education and how the school system will be governed. The
policies apply to all individuals, groups, and organizations
under the jurisdiction of the New Hanover County Board of
Education.
Policies included herein supersede any previously adopted
policies and should not be seen as cast in concrete but as
yielding to changing conditions and requirements of the
overall school system. Therefore, policies will be reviewed
periodically and revised when necessary.
The manual is organized into eleven sections beginning with
the Table of Contents and Introduction. Nine major sections
are then presented with a four-digit codification scheme
from 1000 through 9000.
This manual contains all policies adopted by the New Hanover
County Board of Education. The adoption date and legal
references (when appropriate) are recorded on each policy.
As the revisions are adopted, the last date of the revision
is recorded.
The development and revision of all policies shall be
coordinated by appropriate central office staff under the
direction of the superintendent or designee. Generally,
revised policies shall be considered by the Policy Committee
of the Board prior to being considered by the full board.
