The Music School of Wilmington is now offering Hoop Fitness Classes taught by Kelly Jo Stull who was recently featured in Wrightsville Beach Magazine's August issue.

Georgeann Haas, Arts Education Supervisor for New Hanover County
Schools, is being honored by the Cameron Art Museum, located at 3201 South 17th Street, Wilmington, NC. Her painting, High Stakes, is
currently featured in the exhibition Kaleidoscope: Changing Views of the Permanent Collection.
The exhibition features paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures,
photographs, furniture, decorative arts and other objects drawn from the museum's permanent collection. The display will change throughout the year, May 15, 2009, through May 9, 2010, to allow additional works from the collection to be exhibited and to elicit new, unexpected associations between works of art.
The Cameron Art Museum is dedicated to arts education, and presents
exhibitions and public programs of both historical and contemporary
significance. The Museum's permanent collection includes work by artists of national and international significance, including works by North Carolina artists.

Recently, the North Carolina State Science Olympiad Tournament was held on the campus of the North Carolina State University. Approximately 2,500 middle and high school students from across the state competed in 46 different events. These challenging and motivational events were well balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics and technology. Seven New Hanover County

The Science Olympiad is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of science education, creating a passion for learning science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, professional development workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state, national and international tournaments.

Youth Service America Announces New Awards Program for Young Female Social
Entrepreneurs
Youth Service America has announced the launch of the first annual Gladys
Marinelli Coccia Awards, which recognize two female social entrepreneurs
between the ages of 14 and 17 whose initiatives serve the common good. The
awards were created in memory of Gladys Coccia, who began her
entrepreneurial career when she was a young girl in West Virginia and later
became a successful businesswoman in Washington, D.C.
To be eligible, nominees must be girls between the ages of 14 and 17 (as of
December 31, 2009) who reside in the United States and have their own social
enterprise. Special consideration will be given to nominees from West
Virginia and metropolitan Washington, D.C. Self-nominations are accepted.
The award includes $2,000 for the winner's social enterprise, travel to and
registration at YSA's Youth Service Institute, an invitation to serve on the
executive board of Girls Helping Girls, and access to YSA's resources to
support and expand social enterprise.
The deadline to initiate an online nomination is June 15, 2009. The deadline
to complete and submit a nomination is June 30, 2009.
