Mary C. Williams Elementary Celebrates “School to Career” Month March 10-April 11

To celebrate “School to Career” Month, Mary C. Williams Elementary School will be holding several events with a focus on preparing students for the work they will do in the future through doing their best at their current job – being a student. The goal is for students to develop ownership for creating their future starting in elementary school.

Events include:

March 10: College Door Contest
Teachers will decorate their doors to show off the college they attended, with memorabilia and facts about the school. Students will be able to see the variety of university options available to them. Judging will be done by student council on Friday, March 14th.

March 21: College Jersey Day

March 24: Community Helpers Week
Classes will write thank you letters or use other creative ways to say “Thank You” to community helpers, such as firefighters, police/sheriff, hospital, and paramedics.

March 31 – April 11: This is Me!
Students will be asked to ponder what their dream job would be and then will be writing about what their life will be like in ten years with their dream job.

April 4 and 11: Dress Up Day/Rock the Red Carpet
Students will be allowed to come to school dressed like the professional they would like to become one day. On April 11th, students will attend a “Rock the Red Carpet” special event.
