Elementary Celebrates “School to Career” Month March 10-April 11
To celebrate “School to Career” Month, Mary C. Williams
Elementary School will be holding several events with a focus on
preparing students for the work they will do in the future
through doing their best at their current job – being a student.
The goal is for students to develop ownership for creating their
future starting in elementary school.
March 10: College Door Contest
Teachers will decorate their doors to show off the college they
attended, with memorabilia and facts about the school. Students
will be able to see the variety of university options available
to them. Judging will be done by student council on Friday,
March 21: College Jersey Day
March 24: Community Helpers Week
Classes will write thank you letters or use other creative ways
to say “Thank You” to community helpers, such as firefighters,
police/sheriff, hospital, and paramedics.
March 31 – April 11: This is Me!
Students will be asked to ponder what their dream job would be
and then will be writing about what their life will be like in
ten years with their dream job.
April 4 and 11: Dress Up Day/Rock the Red
Students will be allowed to come to school dressed like the
professional they would like to become one day. On April 11th,
students will attend a “Rock the Red Carpet” special event.
