Bus Driver Licensing
New Hanover County Schools employs only licensed school bus drivers. In an effort to provide the safest and most efficient transportation for students in New Hanover County, North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) offers classes to prospective school bus drivers throughout the year. NCDMV teaches drivers how to operate a school bus safely, perform vehicle inspections, and how to manage student behavior. The classes are taught by NCDMV to qualified applicants.
Prospective candidates must complete and submit a NHCS Questionnaire for Prospective Bus Drivers form and an online School Bus Driver Application prior to being invited to attend the Bus Driver training class.
