- Virgo students won FIRST PLACE at the annual Middle School Battle of the Books competition! Congratulations!
- PTA's largest fundraiser runs from 3/8 - 3/22. Help your child sell cookie dough in the neighborhood, church, work, etc. Students win prizes for each 5 units they sell!
- Come out and see our students, as well as students from all over the county, in Best Foot Forward. The performance will be held at Brogden Hall on the campus of New Hanover High School on Friday, March 19th at 7:30. This show typically sells out, so purchase your tickets right away by contacting Ms. Colson at 251-6150 ext 106. Also if you can help supervise students on the evenings of March 17-19 during the rehearsals or show, let her know.
- Tryouts for baseball, volleyball, and lacrosse will be held after school on March 22-24. All students trying out must have a completed athletic physical screening form on file.
- Ms. Mason, the art teacher, is collecting lids for an art project. She will take any kind of clean lids from jars, jugs, cans, etc. All sizes and textures are welcome!
- Improve literacy skills, boost comprehension and learning success by accessing the newsletters from Reading Connection. These are specifically designed for families to use at home.

Fundraisers
What can you do to help? There are several EASY ways to raise funds
for D. C. Virgo Middle School that only involve minimal time and effort!
1. Please send your used printer/toner cartridges and old
cell phones to Virgo! Encourage your neighbors, co-workers,
friends, and relatives to do the same! There are collection points
in each of the computer labs. We get paid to recycle those!!
2. If you shop at Harris Teeter and have a customer
card, you may ask to link your purchases to the school. Our school
number is 3438. You must re-link every school year.
Any friend, co-worker, neighbor, or relative who shops at any Harris
Teeter, nationwide, may give this number and have their purchases
linked!
3. When shopping at Office Depot, link your purchases
to Virgo with the number 70062729. A percentage will
be donated in office supplies to the school. Anyone, anywhere may
link to Virgo.
4. If you shop at Food Lion and have a customer card,
you may call, toll-free, 1-800-210-9569 to have your
purchases linked. You must do this each school year. Anyone, anywhere
may link to Virgo.
5. If you shop at Target and plan to get or have
a Target credit card, you may link your purchases to Virgo. If you
sign up for a credit card, you may link on the credit card application.
If you already have a credit card, there is a toll-free number on
the card that you may call to have your purchases linked. You do not
have to re-link each year and again, anyone, anywhere who shops at
Target may link to Virgo!
6. We also collect “Box Tops for Education”
from products such as General Mills cereals, Kleenex, Ziploc bags,
Hefty products, and many more. Simply clip the label and send it with
your student! If you shop online you may go through the Boxtops for Education
web site and a percentage of your purchases will be donated to the
school! You may also visit the web site for a complete list of products.
7. We also collect “Labels for Education.”
Clip the UPC’s and lids from Campbell’s soup, Pepperidge
Farms, Prego, Franco-American, etc. and send those to school. For
a complete list, go to the Labels for Education web site
